Toddler Birthday Party Themes We Love
From jungle safari to rainbow pastel, here are the themes we love bringing to life — plus easy ways to pull each one off.

The right theme turns a toddler birthday from cute to unforgettable — but it doesn't have to be complicated. The best toddler themes are bold, colorful and forgiving: a strong color palette, a couple of statement decorations and a photo-worthy backdrop. Here are the themes we love most at tumble HAUS in Denver's Highlands, and the simplest ways to bring each one to life.
Jungle Safari
A perennial favorite — and one we get to set up a lot at the HAUS. Think a balloon garland in greens, golds and leopard print, foil animal balloons (lions, giraffes, cheetahs, a cheeky monkey), palm-leaf plates and a big number balloon as the centerpiece. Hand out plush jungle animals as both decor and take-home favors.
Easy wins: green fringe backdrop, animal-cracker snack cups and “Two Wild” or “Wild One” signage for first and second birthdays.
Rainbow & Pastel
The most flexible theme there is — it works for any kid, any age, and photographs beautifully under our big windows. A pastel rainbow balloon arch, a tulle table skirt and rainbow fruit trays (red strawberries, orange slices, pineapple, kiwi, blueberries) do almost all the work.
Easy wins: rainbow streamers, a cloud-shaped cake topper and a coordinating cup-and-plate set in every color of the spectrum.
Under the Sea
Calm blues and corals make this one feel fresh and bright. Bubble balloons, paper jellyfish, and friendly fish cutouts turn the play space into an ocean. It pairs perfectly with sensory water-bead stations and bubble machines that toddlers adore.
Easy wins: “O-fish-ally one” banners, goldfish-cracker cups and shimmery blue streamers for an instant underwater backdrop.
Woodland Wonderland
Cozy and neutral, woodland leans into earthy greens, browns and a touch of rust. Fox, deer and hedgehog accents, faux greenery and toadstool details make it especially photogenic for a first birthday.
Easy wins: kraft-paper table runners, mushroom cake toppers and a “Wild & Three” banner for the older toddlers.
Construction & Trucks
A toddler classic for the digger-obsessed. Bright yellow and black, caution-tape accents, and toy dump trucks doubling as candy holders keep little builders busy. It's hands-on, high-energy and a perfect match for an active play space.
Easy wins: hard-hat favors, “Under Construction” signage and dirt-cup desserts (chocolate pudding, cookie crumbs and a gummy worm).
Balloon Bash (theme-free)
Not every party needs a theme. A bold, oversized balloon installation in two or three colors is genuinely all a toddler needs — and it lets the play equipment be the star. This is the easiest setup of all and still looks like a celebration.
Easy wins: a giant number balloon, a confetti-balloon cluster and a simple photo corner for the family pictures.
